Pallavi Pradhan inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s role of a Bengali man in Piku

Pallavi Pradhan inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s role of a Bengali man in Piku Pallavi Pradhan who is currently playing the role of Surili in Life OK’s most popular show Bahu Humari Rajni_kant impresses the viewers with her brilliant performance and a perfect comic timing. She has proved her versatility with her flawless acting skillsin not just Gujarati, Marathi and Hindi theatre but also on television shows and now adding another feather to the cap is her portrayal of a Bengali mother, Surili which is keeping the audience in splits. Not many people know that Pallavi took inspiration from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan whose portrayal of Bhashkor Banerjee in the acclaimed movie Piku got him a lot of accolades. To portray the role of Surili, who is a Bengali mother in the show, Pallavi watched Pikumany times to observe the accent and the character of Bhaskor very closely. When asked about the same, Pallavi said, “I watched Piku a lot of times to prepare for my role as I am a fan of Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan. I felt that watching Amitabh Bachchan do magic as Bhashkor Banerjee will be the best way to prepare for my role as Surili. I am sure that I don’t even match 1% of what he has done or givethe justice that he gives to his character but Bhaskor Banerjee proved to be the biggest inspiration for Surili’s character”. Surili Kant plays mother to Shaan played by Karan V Grover and Mother in law to the robotic bahu Rajni played by Ridhima Pandit. Surili’s character is dominating, powerful, expressive and very vivid which the audience is loving and in some ways similar to the character of Bhaskor Banerjee. Pallavi also shared that she doesn’t focus on learning Bengali words for her character but instead she focusses on getting the Bengali accent right as setting the correct tone is of utmost importance which Surili has done to perfection with a touch of her own. Watch Bahu Humari Rajni_kant from Monday to Friday at 8 pm only on Life OK
